This is a first blog entry from a stay-at-home dad with advice from his dog, Larry (hence the website). Any errors or moments of extreme exaggeration are his; he’s smart (a Bichon Frise) but he is also prone to see things in extremes. All dogs outside are threats, all visitors to our house are saints and deserve unyielding love. He’s the perfect partner to understand the extremes of our current age. And so, this blog will offer observations (and pleas for help) on the temper of our times, as well as fatherhood, other elements of domestic life, books, mental health and yes, Larry. Did I mention my two children? I have two daughters (9 and 11) who have uncannily similar temperaments to Larry. They lurch confidently from one conclusion to another – some of their proclamations shouldn’t coexist in the same mind, but they do. I think they get that from me and that’s the beauty of it. Seeing your untidy self in others, including your dog.
